On March 31st the Senate voted 64-35 to pass the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014; H.R. 4302, a bill that will delay the implementation of ICD-10-CM/PCS by at least one year. The bill will now move to President Obama, who is expected to sign it into law.
CodeSmart™ embraces the proposed ICD-10 deadline extension as it will open the door to a wider customer base, representing a majority market share, which has not even begun their transition. This new deadline will give the industry ample time to get fully prepared, as well as further demonstrate CodeSmart’s preparedness and insulation from outside factors. CodeSmart ™ will continue to offer our diverse service training for ICD-10, as well as utilize our tools and vast resources to provide a wide range of services to enhance the provider's entire revenue cycle.
Additionally, our online University (CodeSmart University) continues to see steady growth in our programs which provide career opportunities in medical coding. We understand that the shortage of coders will grow by the same rate previously predicted. In order to allow past, present and future students to continue to learn and refresh their skills in all of our programs, CodeSmart™ will extend access to our curriculum to the new implementation date.
Finally, outsourced coding will round out the cycle as we strive to become the country's leading purveyor of outsourced medical coding - utilizing our involvement with Job Channel Network and Candidate Xchange. CodeSmart ™ is confident about its continued growth due to our flexibility and diversity.Close
